Enterococcus
Bacteria: Test used to determine
fecal contamination from the gastrointestinal tract of warm – blooded
animals. Often used to determine the level of public beach contamination.

Heterotrophic
Plate Count: Procedure for
estimating the number of live heterotrophic bacteria in water and for
measuring changes during water treatment and distribution. SM9215B
Iron-Related
Bacteria: A
group of nuisance organisms that have the ability to transform or deposit
significant amounts of iron in the form of objectionable slimes. The
growth of this bacteria may result in consumer complaints of red water
including symptoms such as odor, taste, frothing and increased turbidity.
