Microbiology

Coliform Bacteria / E. coli: Tests for total coliform/E. coli. This test is used to determine if the quality of water meets the standards of the EPA.SM9223B

Fecal Coliform: Elevated temperature test applicable to investigations of drinking water, stream pollution, raw water sources, wastewater treatment systems, bathing waters, seawaters, and general water quality monitoring. SM9221E

Enterococcus Bacteria: Test used to determine fecal contamination from the gastrointestinal tract of warm – blooded animals. Often used to determine the level of public beach contamination. ASTM-D-6503-99

Heterotrophic Plate Count: Procedure for estimating the number of live heterotrophic bacteria in water and for measuring changes during water treatment and distribution. SM9215B

Iron-Related Bacteria: A group of nuisance organisms that have the ability to transform or deposit significant amounts of iron in the form of objectionable slimes. The growth of this bacteria may result in consumer complaints of red water including symptoms such as odor, taste, frothing and increased turbidity.
